Let me tell you all about the Lady O BBQ cruise. What a day to say the very least…

It all starts at around 9.am where we are welcomed on board. The Lady O is a beautiful boat with so much room. If you struggle at all with mobility, don’t worry as the passerelle (platform to get on the boat) is very easy to access.

The warmest of welcomes awaits you as the crew welcome you onboard and explain a little about the boat. Coffee, tea and biscuits are placed on a table for you to help yourself, also chilled water is available all day. There are various places on the boat to sit whether you like to be in the shade, on a sun bed or inside the choice is yours. The boat is very spacious.

So now you are all comfortable and chatting with the other guests, once everyone has arrived we start our journey. As we leave Argostoli, there may be a cruise ship in which is great to see so close, visitors often give a wave as we leave.

The first island landmark we see is Katavothres which is known for its unique geological features, including sinkholes or swallow holes, where seawater mysteriously disappears underground. This phenomenon is caused by a combination of geological factors, including limestone formations and underground caves. It’s good to go and see,if you have a walked down Fanari Road through the pine trees, also a little further along is the light house.

As we pass around the coast line we see the famous Saint Theodore Lighthouse. The lighthouse of Saint Theodoroi is a white circular structure made up of 20 columns, and its tower is 8 meters tall. The lighthouse is an iconic symbol of Kefalonia and is often depicted in photographs and postcards. You can drive or walk along a scenic coastal road that leads to the lighthouse. There is a parking area near the lighthouse, and you can explore the area on foot, taking in the breathtaking views and enjoying the sea breeze.

By approximately 10.am (times can vary slightly due to the sea) we head to the turquoise clear sea of White Rocks. This is a beautiful beach and can only be reached by boat. We stay here for around an hour giving you time to have a swim, use the paddle boards, snorkel or just relax and take in the scenery. If you are not a swimmer, we have a dinghy that can take you to the beach. Where we anchor off tends to be about 3m deep so not far to swim before you can touch the floor. The steps from the boat are very good, as you can use these to get in if you don’t want to jump.Maybe a surprise at this stop, but I won’t give it away…

Back onboard all refreshed, we head to Vardiani island (also know as Rabbit Island). On this passage we have been known to see dolphins, so the captain always keeps a look out.

Once we are all tied up the crew get busy taking everything over to the island ready to cook the BBQ, have to say I have never tasted souvlaki like it, and Andreas is a great on the BBQ! The local wine and cool box comes on deck for a cold drinks, and with the island being very sheltered it’s great for a swim. You can go and have a look around the island and see the light house and a little chapel were a monk used to live for 13 years. He has sadly passed away but you can still go in the chapel and ring the bell.

The smell of the BBQ , oh and the floating bar…Nicos, will come and find you having a dip, or maybe on the paddle board and see if you would like a drink. No need to keep coming back to the boat for a drink! The service is unbelievable.

If you are a vegetarian, vegan or gluten free, please advise us of this when booking. We cater for everyones needs, so don’t worry. The meal has been commented on before that it’s the best meal they have had all holiday, so take it from me, it’s delicious.

Now you have had your delicious meal finished off with freshly cut watermelon and the drinks are flowing it’s time for our last stop to Megas Lakos Beach.

This is on the Lixouri side and known for a unique feature, the presence of natural clay along its shoreline. You can apply the clay directly to their skin, allowing it to dry in the sun, and then rinse it off in the sea. Many believe that the minerals present in the clay help to exfoliate the skin, remove impurities, and leave the skin feeling soft and smooth. We already soak some of the clay ready for you to try. It’s a fun thing to do, and very refreshing. This clay, sometimes referred to as “healing clay” or “healing mud,” is said to have therapeutic properties and is popular for its supposed benefits for the skin. Makes you look 10 years younger. you wouldn’t believe Dennis was 90 would you…

The day comes to an end with maybe a little dancing or just relaxing and taking in the island. Being on a boat and looking at the island is an amazing view, never have I seen so much beauty as I do in Kefalonia, and the Lady O was the best day ever!
