Full Description
We stay on the west coast and head to the north from Naxos town following the main road. Soon enough we take the rural road until we reach Ipsilotera’s tower. We continue on the coastal trail until we reach the chapel of Prophitis (prophet) Elias. At that point we make a short stop to enjoy the picturesque view and to hydrate.
From there we cross the main road, ride by Faneromeni’s dam and ascend Mt. Koronos on an uphill dirt trail . Imposing rocky mountains all around us, livestock farms, beehives and small creeks. At the end of the trail we reach Skeponi, a deserted village since the 70’s, that is hidden within sycamore trees and lush vegetation.
Time explore and let ourselves be one with the serene landscape!
We take the same way back to Naxos town and wind permitting we’ll make one last short stop for swimming!
